Roundabout on 13th and Marion
On April 7, 2017, Rumi Koshino created Here We Are Again, an installation on a traffic island at 13th and Marion. Using flags, Rumi adopted a symbol meant for destinations and planted them in a place designed for humans to avoid. A reflection on cycles of power, ideology, and place, Here We Are Again was an uplifting piece in what feels like a bleak time.
Rumi’s artist statement:
“Nothing is clear as of now, but the lack of clarity seems to be the appropriate response to what surrounds our lives right now. Here We Are Again reflects it. “Hope”, perhaps, is the word I’m trying to emit from this project.”
